Paediatric Cancer Care

Pediatric Integrative Cancer Care

Compassionate, Evidence-Based Support for Children and Their Families

A childhood cancer diagnosis changes everything. Families are suddenly faced with complex treatment decisions, long days at the hospital, uncertainty, and the emotional and physical challenges that come with cancer treatment.

Our role is to support your child—and your entire family—through every stage of that journey.

We provide research-informed, integrative naturopathic care designed to work alongside your child's pediatric oncology team. Our goal is to help reduce treatment-related side effects, support your child's overall health and resilience, optimize nutrition and recovery, and improve quality of life throughout treatment and beyond.

Every recommendation is individualized, evidence-based, and carefully coordinated to complement—not replace—conventional cancer care.

An Integrative Approach

Children undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, immunotherapy, or targeted therapies often experience significant side effects that can impact their comfort, nutrition, growth, and recovery.

Integrative naturopathic care focuses on supporting the whole child by addressing the many factors that influence healing, including:

  • Nutrition and nutritional deficiencies

  • Digestive health and microbiome support

  • Sleep quality

  • Energy and fatigue

  • Immune function

  • Emotional wellbeing and stress

  • Physical activity and rehabilitation

  • Environmental exposures

  • Healthy growth and development during treatment

By addressing these areas, we aim to help children tolerate treatment as well as possible while supporting their overall health.

Supporting Conventional Cancer Treatment

Research continues to demonstrate that integrative supportive care can play an important role alongside standard pediatric cancer therapies.

Depending on your child's diagnosis, treatment plan, and medical team recommendations, our care may help support:

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Poor appetite and weight loss

  • Constipation or diarrhea

  • Mouth sores (mucositis)

  • Fatigue

  • Peripheral neuropathy

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Anxiety and emotional stress

  • Immune health during treatment

  • Recovery following chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery

Every recommendation is carefully evaluated for safety, with particular attention to potential interactions with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies, and other medications.

Evidence-Based Metabolic Support

Cancer cells often rely on altered metabolic pathways to grow and survive. Emerging research has identified several metabolic processes that may represent therapeutic targets.

Where appropriate, we incorporate evidence-informed nutritional, lifestyle, and natural medicine strategies that are intended to support normal cellular metabolism and the body's natural defenses while complementing conventional treatment.

These approaches are always individualized according to your child's diagnosis, treatment protocol, age, nutritional status, and overall health. Any metabolic or adjunctive therapies are selected based on current scientific evidence and with careful consideration of safety and compatibility with ongoing oncology treatment.

Our recommendations are never intended as a replacement for conventional cancer treatment but rather as supportive, integrative therapies within a comprehensive care plan.

Supporting the Whole Family

Cancer affects more than the child—it impacts parents, siblings, and the entire family.

We recognize that caregivers often carry enormous emotional and physical burdens while navigating appointments, treatments, and daily life.

Our goal is to create a supportive space where parents can ask questions, better understand supportive care options, and receive practical guidance to help their child throughout treatment.

We work collaboratively with families to develop realistic, achievable strategies that fit into everyday life, helping reduce overwhelm while providing compassionate, ongoing support.

Your Initial Consultation

Your first appointment is a comprehensive 2-hour consultation, allowing us the time needed to fully understand your child's health history and create an individualized treatment plan.

During this visit we will review:

  • Your child's cancer diagnosis and treatment plan

  • Current and previous oncology treatments

  • Treatment-related side effects

  • Nutrition and eating habits

  • Digestive health

  • Sleep quality

  • Energy levels and fatigue

  • Mood and emotional wellbeing

  • Physical activity

  • Lifestyle factors

  • Environmental exposures

  • Medical history and laboratory findings

  • Current supplements and medications

Following this assessment, you will receive a personalized, research-based integrative care plan tailored specifically to your child's needs and designed to work safely alongside their oncology treatment.

Collaborative Care

We believe the best outcomes occur when healthcare providers work together.

Whenever possible, we collaborate with your child's oncology team and other healthcare professionals to ensure that all aspects of care are coordinated and that recommendations align with your child's medical treatment plan.

Safety, communication, and evidence-based decision-making are central to everything we do.

We Are Here to Support Your Family

No family should have to navigate childhood cancer alone.

Whether your child has been newly diagnosed, is currently undergoing treatment, recovering after therapy, or transitioning into survivorship, we are here to provide compassionate, individualized, research-informed integrative care.

Together, we can help support your child's health, comfort, and quality of life throughout every stage of their cancer journey.
